We were on the road at 08 00 on our way to Knik River Lodge in Palmer. It was raining, cloudy and cold, roads were quiet.
We stopped at the Visitor’s Center in Palmer which is also the local Museum. In 1935, 203 families were given loans by the US government to move to Palmer and build up an agricultural community which today counts 7,131 people. We then visited a caribou farm and saw other animals as well.
After lunch we took a helicopter ride on to Knik Glacier, amazing! We are spending the night in Knik River Lodge.
Today Bob’s dad, Henry, would have been 113.
Sad I never got to meet him.
