Day 39 – July 22

Today was a stimulating and interesting day.

After breakfast on the main square of Tequila, we took a tour at Jose Cuervo distillery. We listened to a detailed presentation of the brewing of tequila made from the agave plant, very interesting, learnt a lot.

After a short drive, we visited the art studio of Jose Davila. We have a number of his works in our collection, mainly sculptures, working with stone, glass, rocks, etc. Also, 2 cutouts based on Les Femmes d’Alger by Picasso. Maybe you remember them!

We arrived at our hotel at 15 00 and thereafter I walked around the city; big, busy, noisy, dirty and run down. I visited the Museo Cabanas and saw the most amazing vibrant frescos (56) painted by Jose Clemente Orozco 1935-1939. I also visited MUSAN, viewing works by young and older Mexican artists and an exhibition by Leonora Carrington and Daniel Kent.

You will also see buildings, theaters, murals, etc taken while I was walking.

Bob stayed in the hotel to catch up on emails and took a rest.

Massage and room service were the evening occupations.
