Day 38 – July 21

Turned on my phone this morning to a lovely picture of Greg, Lorena, and Rafael.

Lots of sunshine streaming into our room, our hotel was a lovely, small boutique hotel with 9 rooms.

Rested and refreshed, we continued our drive. We drove 400 kilometers today,  passed through Tepic, a busy town, there were many passes, lots of trucks, about 6 tolls.  The landscape is green and lush. The roads are relatively well maintained and the traffic moves quickly.  We passed fields of agave plants, used in making tequila. Since Hermosillo we have changed time zones twice, so keep losing an hour and tend to arrive at our destination later than expected.

We ended our day in Tequila, what a charming, bustling town, very colorful. After we checked into our Relais Chateax hotel, I walked around town. Musicians, street artists,  colorful murals, street food and stalls but not touristic, and lots of wagons and bars selling tequila.

Tonight we had a delicious dinner in our hotel, but before we went to one of the stalls for tequila and music.
