Day 31 – July 14

It was pretty windy last night, with lots of rain and storm. Nevertheless, we slept well and headed off early for a strenuous hike in Zion National Park with breathtaking views of the canyon. We drove around the park, fascinated by the rock formations and the enormous mountains. The sandstone cliffs are impressive and the diversity of colors remain a highlight for us throughout the entire trip.

Thereafter we set off for Las Vegas but stopped on route at Seven Magic Mountains, a land art sculpture by Ugo Rondinone.

The sculptures were such a contrast to the barren surroundings, and the nature we had experienced these last weeks, it was amazing, a moment that you think about the world we are living in. Then driving into Vegas, again the contrast from the beauty of nature to one of the ‘Disney parks’ of the US, Las Vegas – what a contrast!

We were invited to Atomic Saloon tonight by a friend of Mathew Day Jackson who set it up. A lot of laughs, good acts, and fun entertainment.
